We work closely with our Clients to plan the films.
The closer the partnership, the richer the story.
“I see my children growing up, my parents getting older. I want to capture their memories and stories while they are still healthy and happy ...” (Lesley H., New York)
“A picture is worth a thousand words. But nothing can replace a film to capture stories, voices, expressions, moods, laughs, tears...” (Anna M., California)
“We left Belgium in 1941 when the Germans invaded. One morning my father found a letter telling us to leave home and join other jews...” (Oscar G., New York)
Together, we agree on the main story line, identify the key person(s) to be interviewed, design a questionnaire to guide in-depth interviews, and select locations for the filming. All details are reviewed and agreed upon during a pre-production meeting prior to the shoot.
Family Research: You collect and we review together all meaningful keepsakes kept over the years, which otherwise could be forgotten or lost: old home movies, photographs, old letters, postcards, a favorite tune, an engagement ring, a will, which will later be woven into the story.
Historical Research: Our documentaires are set in the historical context of the time, derviced from archival footage, historical photographs, articles of the time, radio interviews...
On the day of the shoot, we bring a small crew of professionals to selected locations, and we conduct interviews in relaxed settings. We also take additional footage (around the house, outdoors, family gatherings...) to add richness and spontaneity to the overall piece. We film with video digital cameras which enables us to produce broadcast quality films.

After the shoot, we review the many hours of footage and start the long process of editing. Once the film is edited, we store it on an easy-to-use Digital Video Disk which can be used on a home DVD player or a personal computer.

Unlike VHS tapes, which degrade over time, digital technology is more permanent.
